The color RED represents events and emotions at the core of the human state: danger, courage, revolution, war, violence, death, sacrifice, desire, passion, love and beauty. Our bodies 'redden' when we experience rage, shame or passion. Healthy persons are viewed as having a rosy color (as opposed to appearing pale). Red catches people's attention.
Red carries the strongest reaction of all the colors, with the level of reaction decreasing gradually with orange, yellow, and white. Because of this, red is used for warning signals, labels and signs indicating danger and emergency. Red is used in advertising to gain more viewers, or in nature, as a ripe fruit announces it's readiness with it's red color. Red is seen in flowers, in the sun and sunsets, blood, and used in naming planets (red planet = Mars) and animal species (red fox).
The color red is used nationally and politically. It is the most common color used in national flags throughout the world. During revoluntionary periods, red was used to symbolize radical, innovative and avant-garde movements.
